The Utah Symphony is hosting a variety of community appreciation events in the Park City area to celebrate the 15-year anniversary of the Deer Valley Music Festival, most of which will be free.

It's hard to believe it, but Utah Symphony has called Park City its summer home for fifteen years now. To commemorate this special anniversary, the symphony is hosting an array of community events in conjunction with the regularly scheduled Deer Valley Music Festival performances, most of which will be free. For an extra dose of summer art and culture, make sure you add these events to your calendar. 

Art Piano Pop-Up Concerts

Ready for a mini dose of classical music? The Utah Symphony joins forces with the Park City Summit County Arts Council and Summit County Public Art Advisory Board to bring three free pop-up concerts at a few of the colorfully decorated pianos around town. Short and sweet, these concerts will take place from 5:30 to 6 p.m. on June 20, 21, and 26 at Kimball Junction Transit Center, Summit County Library Kimball Junction, and Coalville City Hall, respectively. Guest artists from the Utah Symphony and Utah Opera Resident Artist program will be featured at each event, including pianist Robert Bosworth and bass-baritone Jesus Murillo (June 20), pianist Robert Bosworth and bass-baritone Jesus Murillo (June 21), and Utah Symphony violinist Lynn Rosen and pianist Jed Moss (June 26). 

Music Events For the Kids

On June 28 and August 2 from 2-3 p.m., the Park City Library hosts Utah Symphony and Utah Opera staff during family hours. Bring in your kiddos for an hour full of music games and to celebrate the library's summer reading theme 'Libraries Rock!' Ahead of the July 6 Disney in Concert performance, youngsters can get to know orchestra instruments at the instrument "petting zoo."

Music-Inspired Art Classes at the Paint Mixer

The world is full of examples of art inspiring other art, from great paintings to musical compositions, film, and beyond. That's why the Utah Symphony and Paint Mixer are hosting an eight week collaboration where you can join in weekly paint classes inspired by concert programing, including art inspired by ABBA, Bad Vo0doo Daddy, and more. There will also be two special outdoor "plein air" painting sessions at Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheatre ahead of the DVMF Disney in Concert (July 6) and Pink Floyd (Aug. 11) performances. Participants of the plein air sessions will also attend the concerts. Musical Theatre Audition Master Class

Aspiring Broadway stars and musical theatre lovers don't want to miss the master class with guest conductor Jerry Steichen. Slated to lead the symphony for the July 7 concert Broadway Hits from Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Weber, Steichen will share secrets to success and help students of Utah Conservatory and Egyptian YouTheatre reach new heights at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (4595 Silver Springs Dr). You don't need to be a student to benefit from the class, audience attendance is free and open to the public.

Pop-Up at Local Galleries

During the Park City Gallery Association's Friday Night Gallery Stroll on July 27, head over to Susan Swartz Studios at 6 p.m. for light appetizers and a free, intimate performance featuring Utah Symphony violinist Lynn Rosen and pianist Jed Moss. Space is limited to 40 people. If you don't make it to the free showing, pop into Gallery MAR where a woodwind trio on at 6 p.m. on July 30 (admission $20).
