Tackle the toughest terrain and bag the biggest peaks at Park City Mountain Resort on February 24 during the inaugural Seven Summits Challenge.

If you regularly ski or ride at Park City Mountain, you may take the enormous size of the resort for granted, leisurely sliding down your favorites of the more than 300 runs there. But how often do you actually try to cover all that terrain in a single day? If you are one of the few daring individuals who loved the adventure of trying to hit up every single lift in a day (and succeeded at the feat), there's a new feat you need to be a part of. Mark your calendar for February 24 for the inaugural Seven Summits Challenge. This brand new event is definitely not for the casual skier or rider, but if you fancy yourself King or Queen of the Mountain and are game for an epic quest that involves conquering Park City's most iconic peaks and challenging terrain, this is for you!

The challenge itself is pretty straightforward. Get yourself to the top of seven of Park City's peaks and back down in one piece as you work your way from the starting point at the Legacy Lodge to Jupiter Peak all the way over to the farthest reaches of the Canyons side, Murdock Peak. In between, you'll need to use both lifts and your own leg power to high-tail it up to Scott's Bowl, Limelite, Dream Peak, Peak 5, and Ninety-Nine 90.

Jupiter Peak is one of the designated destinations as part of Park City Mountain's inaugural 7 Summits Challenge.

"This is our third season as a combined resort and we wanted to create a new event that was unique to Park City Mountain and showcased the variety and expanse of advanced terrain across the resort," says Jessica Miller, senior communications specialist at Park City Mountain. "Our hope is that the Seven Summits Challenge brings people together in the spirit of adventure to challenge themselves and conquer the largest ski resort in the United States." In addition to providing a truly unforgettable experience to anyone participating, the challenge will also help the resort pay it forward. Ten dollars of every event registration ($45 or $120 VIP) goes to the non-profit organization SOS Outreach, a group that engages at-risk youth through adventure sports like skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, backpacking, hiking, and stand-up paddle boarding so they can become healthy, confident, and active members of their community.

The Seven Summit's Challenge course includes Park City Mountain's most iconic peaks and takes you from one end of the resort to the other.

The Seven Summits Challenge is not a race, but while you can complete it at your own pace, be aware this isn't for everyone. Because the challenge requires some hiking and black/double black/bowl skiing and riding, it is only appropriate for advanced skiers and riders who feel comfortable in any resort terrain.  Depending on your pace and skill, it could take anywhere from 2.5 to 7 hours to finish the course. We recommend you come into the challenge with a game plan, i.e. pick up a resort map and decide your route the day before, especially if you aren't familiar with the mountain--you don't want to waste your precious sliding time getting directions from mountain hosts. There's no cutting corners in this event, to confirm you've completed the challenge, you'll have to check-in at designated checkpoints marked by flags at the top of each peak where a Park City Mountain staff member will be waiting to mark your credentials.

Once you've hit all the peaks, a special après party awaits you and other challenge participants at the Red Pine Lodge. Park City's dining team will be grilling up burgers, veggie burgers, and hot dogs and serving house made chips. Participants will also receive a commemorative stainless steel pint glass, a useful gift since you'll most certainly have earned a celebratory beverage after sending it all day long. There will also be an opportunity drawing with a mix of prizes including Helly Hansen swag, gift cards, and Park City Mountain swag!

Remember, registration for this event is limited and it's recommended you sign up to reserve your spot. The cost is $45/person or $120 for VIP tickets (Note: a lift ticket is not included and you'll need to either bring your season pass or purchase a lift ticket in addition to the registration price). You can find more information and register here.  The full schedule of events is below.
