The moment we've all eagerly been awaiting finally arrived on November 21 when Park City Mountain celebrated their official opening for the 2018-2019 winter season. Guests were greeted with good vibes, hot cocoa, groovy tunes, and the new avalanche pup Maple. Mother nature was also feeling generous this year, offering skiers and snowboarders perfect bluebird conditions as they made their way down the mountain. Thanks to the cooler weather this fall and increased snowmaking capabilities, the resort was able to open lifts at the Park City Mountain Village and Canyons Village, offering early season visitors (and locals) the chance to mix it things up between the two areas.
This year promises to be an incredible season at Park City Mountain with the resort welcoming some of the finest winter athletes to the resort during 2019 FIS Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski World Championships. "The World Champs are second only to the Olympics in terms of big, high profile events and we're excited to showcase our freestyle terrain and everything we do here that's just best in the world," said Bill Rock, Chief Operating Officer of Park City Mountain. But the resort isn't just a playground for the pros, Park City Mountain, already one of the best places for newbies, is debuting a brand new beginner learning area and a few adventure trails at High Meadow Park this season. Once more terrain opens up in December, guests can also enjoy improvements at two on-mountain restaurants: a massive transformation of the Mid-Mountain Lodge and a much needed 200-seat expansion of Cloud Dine.
With two major storm systems rolling in and several inches of snow in the forecast, Park City Mountain will (cross your fingers) be opening more terrain soon. You can stay up-to-date with the latest on snowmaking and upcoming openings here.
Park City's other major resort, Deer Valley is scheduled to open on December 8.
