The Utah Symphony plays during the Deer Valley Music Festival

The Kimball Arts Festival may be closed for the evening, but there's still a plethora of options for nighttime entertainment. Here are a few suggestions for how to spend your festival after dark.

Pass the Popcorn: Sundance Summer Film Series

Being home to the prodigious Sundance Film Festival comes with a number of perks, one of the best being the annual Sundance Summer Film Series. Come out on Friday, Aug. 4, at 9 p.m. for a free outdoor screening of Walking Out, an official selection from the 2017 festival. Written and directed by Alex Smith and Andrew Smith, the film tells the story of an estranged father and son who head out on a big-game hunt in Montana. But the two struggle to reconnect until a brutal encounter in the wilderness. We recommend you bring a blanket, a picnic, and come early for lawn games before the screening.

Laugh It Up at the Egyptian Theater

On Friday, Aug. 4, & Saturday, Aug. 5, at 8 p.m., the Egyptian Theater hosts stand-up comedians Mick Diflo and Greg Hahn. Come out for an evening full of laughter and fun!

A former laborer, professional boxer, and addiction counselor, Mick Diflo's dark, skewed look at relationships, the news, addiction, and life in general have made him a success with audiences. He's appeared on AXS TV’s Gotham Comedy Live, Inside Amy Schumer, and is a contributing writer to The Idiot’s Guide to Jokes, Jest Magazine, & The Huffington Post

High energy, physical humor, one-liners, and crowd work define Greg Hahn's work. Wild and likable, he's appeared on numerous shows, including Late Night with Conan O’Brien; Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, Make Me Laugh, Louis CK’s Pulp Comics, Bob & Tom Comedy Special; CBS’s Star Search; Comics Unleashed; FOX’s 30 Seconds to Fame and Cedric The Entertainer Presents; and CMT’s Comedy Stage.

Rock Out to Live Music

The Deer Valley Music Festival (DVMF) celebrates the 50th anniversary of the monumental album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 7:30 p.m. with the Utah Symphony Classical Mystery Tour. A mainstay of Park City summers, the DVMF takes place at the outdoor amphitheater behind Snow Park Lodge. Bring your own blankets and picnic or pick something scrumptious from the gourmet concession stand and rock out the Utah Symphony's rendition of the entire album.

The following evening, Sunday, Aug. 6, at 7 p.m., you can get a 2-for-1 ticket to the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus if you show your Kimball Arts Festival wristband. Entirely comprised of volunteers, the chorus not only sounds fantastic, they play a major part in social justice, touring the country and helping start other gay men's choral groups. Lead by Artistic Director Dr. Timothy Seelig, this group brings songs of inspiration and hope (along with a bit of whimsy) to the stage.

Saddle Up for the Summit County Fair

Never been to a rodeo? Now's your chance. The Summit County Fair is underway in Coalville with a variety of events scheduled in the upcoming week. On Saturday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m., the popular Demolition Derby offers thrilling car battles and crashes. Check out the Summit County Fair website for a full listing of all their events.
