Experience the freedom of no lifts, no lines through heli-skiing.

Why choose heli-skiing when there's plenty of resorts in the immediate area? Simply put, there's no comparison to the freedom of off-trail, downhill skiing and snowboarding accessible by air. A short hop away in Nevada, the Ruby Mountains are a definite must-do for any passionate skier or snowboarder, but several Utah-based companies also offer helicopter assists a little closer to home, including:

Diamond Peaks Heli-Ski Adventures (801.745.4631) operates within the Ogden Valley. Rates are $1,150 per person, for a guaranteed eight runs per day.

Park City Powder Cats and Heli-Ski (435.649.6596) offers helicopter skiing for private groups on the 43,000-acre Thousand Peaks Ranch, located about 40 miles east of Park City.

Wasatch Powderbird Guides (801.742.2800) accesses 100,000 acres throughout the Wasatch Range, launching either from Park City’s Waldorf Astoria or Snowbird. Rates begin at $1,260 to $1,540 per person, per day for six to seven runs or 11,000 to 16,000 vertical feet of skiing.

Whisper Ridge (801.876.4664) is a new helicopter- and snowcat-accessed backcountry skiing resort located on 60,000 acres east of Eden, Utah. Helicopter-skiing day rates begin at $1,295 per person, per day for 12,000 to 15,000 vertical feet of skiing. Or get a heli first drop prior to a day of cat skiing for $150 per person above the daily cat skiing rate.
