The fare offered on Main Street is about as mouthwatering as you’ll find anywhere. But as you might expect, grabbing a bite in midtown Park City can come at a pretty steep price. There are, however, a few Old Town eateries where you can get crave-worthy sustenance while sticking to a budget.
Used books, coffee, and teas (just $2 on Tuesdays) are hallmarks at Atticus (738 Lower Main St, 435.214.7421, atticustea.com), but just as enticing is this eclectic hole-in-the-wall’s made-to-order café menu. Items include breakfast and lunch sandwiches, wraps, smoothies, and salads. The Shakespearean salad—made with mixed greens, avocado, cucumbers, tomatoes, caramelized walnuts, feta, and a homemade creamy balsamic—is both satisfying and non-guilt-inducing. (at only $10 it's perfect for lunch.)
More than 50 options (spanning both hot and cold) make up the sandwich menu at the appropriately named Back Door Delicatessen (136 Heber Ave, 435.647.9200, backdoordeli.squarespace.com). Classics include a Reuben, roasted turkey and Swiss, and hot pastrami. Or branch out and try the artichoke and brie or turkey and goat cheese. At just $10.75, the daily deal (sandwich, cookie, and soda) is hard to beat.
Davanza’s (690 Park Ave, 435.649.2222, davanzas.com) has faithfully served up burgers, pizza, street tacos, and wings since it opened in Park City in 1979. But for a truly satisfying post-slope gut bomb, go for the Philly cheesesteak ($7.59), a luscious mound of marinated beef, peppers, onions, and cheese on a hoagie roll. If you have room for fries, go for it: Davanza’s is also known for its house-made fry sauce.
Open since 1962, Red Banjo Pizza (322 Main St, 435.649.9901) is one of Park City’s oldest restaurants, where hand-tossed pies and hot subs are made from scratch and to order every day. Pepperoni and cheese slices are available all the time, or stop in at lunch and get a slice, a salad, and a soda for just $6.99.
Uptown Fare (1401 Kearns Blvd, 435.615.1998, urbanspoon.com) owner Karleen Reilly roasts a turkey each day to use in her delectable soups, salads, and sandwiches. This cozy eatery’s service is, um, efficient. (Reilly is known not to mince words.) The half sandwich and soup special ($9.75) never disappoints, however. And don’t leave without grabbing a homemade cookie, slice of carrot cake, or Rice Krispie treat for dessert.
