It boasts over 80,000 square feet, a convenient, in-town location, panoramic windows that usher in expansive mountain views, indoor tennis courts, steam rooms, hot tub, pools, and much more. But this isn’t the newest luxury hotel offering for tourists. It’s the new Park City MARC, or as locals often refer to it, the “old Racquet Club.”
The MARC (Municipal Athletic & Recreation Center) finished a $10 million renovation at the end of 2011, giving Park City residents a state-of-the-art fitness facility, child-care center, and wellness hub, all under one roof. The upgrades include an indoor jogging track, three fitness studios, a bouldering wall, a game room, a party room, and a variety of cardio and weight equipment.
The renovation lasted about one and a half years, and according to tennis operations supervisor Laurie Lambert, it was well worth the wait. “The residents of Park City are overwhelmingly positive about the facility, its looks, its playability, its everything,” she says.
While the MARC boasts just about every amenity a fitness fanatic could want, no doubt its tennis offerings are the jewel in its crown. With four new indoor courts, seven outdoor courts (three of which are covered in the winter for use), and 10 certified tennis pros on hand, it fits the bill for players of all ability levels.
“Park City may be a ski town, but it is full of passionate tennis players,” Lambert says. “Everyone in our tennis community was so excited to start playing on our beautiful new courts.”
