Park city winter 2012 parting shot nx618n

Top: Pop Jenks (a famed local café owner and photographer in his own right), his little dog, and the local sheriff on Main Street in the early 1900s. Bottom: Chief of Police Wade Carpenter and his dog, and Mayor Dana Williams, posing with one of the police department’s Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

The long and storied history of Park City as a real town before it became a world-class ski destination is part of what makes it such a special place. And Parkites proudly preserve the links to their past. The historic photo above is one of Park City’s most iconic,  picturing Pop Jenks (a famed local café owner and photographer in his own right), his little dog, and the local sheriff on Main Street in the early 1900s. Flash forward to 2010, when this photo was re-created by local photographer Rick Pieros, using our modern counterparts: Chief of Police Wade Carpenter and his dog, and Mayor Dana Williams, posing with one of the police department’s Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
